Background
Gemma is our precious "Gem" - A Mountain Home special blend and a dream come true for us. Gemma hails from a family of friendly Malamutes who raise each generation of puppies together.
Gemma has been brought up by her beautiful dam Cruiser, but also by her great grandmother Annie and by her great-great grandmother Star. Gemma's sire Sunny is a lead dog on the Mtn Home sledding team and a very true to type and sound male.
Gemma's pedigree includes most of our all-time favorite Alaskan Malamutes and many excellent sled dogs.
Personality & Working
Gemma has the sweetest temperament we have encountered in a Malamute. She has a very well developed canine language which
enables her to get along with every dog she meets. Being one of the younger dogs in our pack, Gemma displays clear deference towards her seniors but is also very eager to
play and interact. Gemma has a happy and willing to please personality and can be trusted off lead on our daily walks. Thanks to her friendly
manners she is a joy to bring along on all kinds of events.
Gemma completed the requirements for her WTD-title during spring 2009 and has proved that she is a natural in harness, being capable of both teamwork and independent work
in the nome- and nordic style. During fall 2009 she earned her WPD-title during a 65.24mi (105km) hike.
Conformation
Gemma is a standard sized girl with strong feet and limbs and a balanced gait with long reach. Her coat is of the correct harsh texture which is becoming increasingly rare today. With a stunning head with well set ears, dark eyes and a correct bite, Gemma is a very pretty female and we're very grateful to Sue & Roy Fuller for sending us this special "Gem"!
