We have a small breeding program, hoping to breed healthy, sound, friendly and beautiful Alaskan Malamutes that are equipped for work as freighting sled dogs in a subarctic climate. Our northern location, 300km north of the Arctic Circle, means we can test our dogs' working ability in an environment which closely resembles that of the Malamute's native Alaska. Our climate requires a hardy and strong kind of dog that is happy living and working outdoors even in extreme winter temperatures.

Since we spend a lot of time on the trail we prefer standard sized Mals that are never too large or heavy but never lacking in substance or bone. Our ideal Malamute is built for strength and endurance and has powerful and sound movement.

While we pay a lot of attention to the breed's functional attributes, we will never forget that it was the Malamute's magnificent beauty that attracted us first and we therefore place great emphasis on preserving correct breed type. With the "Tote-Um style" as our ideal, we prefer natural looking Malamutes with broad heads, smaller ears, dark eyes and a soft expression. In our climate a richer coat is better than a shorter coat, but only if the texture and density is of the correct quality.

Everybody wants easy going and well tempered dogs and we firmly believe that a dog's temperament to a large extent is determined by hereditary factors. We are therefore very selective when planning our combinations and aim to breed Malamutes that are tolerant and friendly also with dogs of the same sex. The ability to get along in the pack is an important part of what we regard as a truly excellent temperament.

The Alaskan Malamute is a versatile breed that can excel in a number of sports if given the proper training. Besides striving to breed good sled dogs, we are dedicated to preserving the breed's versatility by aiming to produce intelligent Mals with willing to please personalities that respond well to positive training. Hiking, agility, obedience and showing are some examples of activities that you can do with a versatile Mal.

Our Malamutes are members of our family and are involved in our daily life just like any regular pets. We plan our lifestyle around them and have gained a richer and more active life as a result. The Alaskan Malamute is not a dog for everyone, but for us, living in the Far North, there could be no better breed.
