Personality
Thunder is a beautiful agouti male with a very sweet personality. He is a wonderful role model for our younger dogs as he is playful and gentle and has an amazing
patience with puppies. We love his sunny and willing to please personality which makes him into a perfect companion and pack member. Thunder just loves attention and is
perhaps most cuddly of all our dogs. He came to us as an older puppy but quickly charmed his way into our hearts.
Working
Thunder hails from many generations of excellent working Alaskan Malamutes going back to Kotzebue and Tote-Um, so it is no surprise that this boy enjoys his place on our sledding team.
Thunder usually works in wheel but also does a good job in double-lead. Thunder is also a keen skijoring companion and a skilled
tracking dog who has passed the Swedish aptitude test in tracking with ease (2005). During 2008 he completed the requirements for his Working Pack Dog title (WPD) and during spring 2009 he gained his
Working Team Dog title (WTD). Thunder has sired two litters and has passed on his excellent working ability and easy going temperament to his kids.
Conformation
Thunder is a standard sized male, weighing approx. 39 kg. He has
a thick guard coat that is completely functional in our subarctic climate
and large feet with tough, black pads. With his dark, almond shaped eyes and black pigmentation, medium sized ears and strong and moderately arched neck, Thunder is an excellent representative of the type of Malamute that we prefer.
